I wish you had been there.....

Marianne and I got a heads up that there would be a couple of special young men

at our table tonight at the Make A Wish Ball in downtown Raleigh...I got reintroduced

to Michael and Chris. I say "reintroduced" because I first met them about ten years ago

when they were patients at Duke Children's Hospital. Michael is now 18, and Chris is

almost 14...Both were born with some congenital challenges. Both are doing pretty well

now. And both have benefited from the great work of Make A Wish Eastern North Carolina.

We had lively conversation. Michael will be entering college soon with plans of studying

psychology, and Chris can't decide on becoming a chef or a singer. Of course, he might do

both...

Tonight was a reminder of how fragile life is, and how strong the human spirit is.
